John Gibson is…
a goldmine. In almost 20 years of thinking and dreaming and working with him I have yet to discover any limit to his resourcefulness. He knows how to temper his boundless creativity with common sense. But he also knows that sometimes creation demands that common sense be thrown out the window. I cannot think of even one thing in this world that wouldn’t be sharpened and deepened and impassioned and enriched by his attention to it.
(Larry Garretson, author and journalist)
… the wittiest, smartest, most articulate artist of experience I’ve ever known. Whether it’s contemporary performance, events, nonprofits, or business, he clearly articulates bold and magical visions and inspires talented collaborators to help him realize those visions. He has the rare gift of the impresario–he can convince those in a position to do so to support a vision financially. Over the span of 20 years, I’ve seen his work help transform our city into the arts hub it is today. I am proud to call him both a peer and a mentor.

after a long chat, a reporter wrote this piece, quoted me accurately (and at length), and ran a favorite photo. all you can ask for, really. (as a bonus, the great guy who succeeded me at live arts is featured. )
a few years back a newsweekly profiled arts leaders, under the rubric of ‘power’. curious. that same nice photo, though. here, then scroll.
our atlanta home was blogged. here. pretty painless.
